Roughly the thousandth time
This app was born in the summer of 2026, somewhere on a hot pedestrian street in a European city.
We were travelling across Europe as a family. And in every single city, on every single day — usually right when the museum queue was at its longest or the train about to leave — my wife and daughter asked the same question:
For the first hundred times I tried to guess. For the next hundred I dug out a map app that suggested cafés where you would first have to queue and buy something. The rest of the time we walked optimistically towards “there is probably one on that square”.
Somewhere around question one thousand it hit me: this — possibly humanity's most common travel question — deserves an answer that requires no guessing, no queuing and no obligatory espresso.
So I built it myself.
Toilet Map does one thing: it shows the nearest public toilet on a map, instantly, at a glance. The data comes from OpenStreetMap — the same open map maintained by volunteer mappers around the world — and community ratings tell you which toilet is worth choosing.
